Stairs To Landing

Stairs quickly become a main attraction and can be added to most log shells.

I don't know if anyone else uses this form of tenon for their stairs but I got the idea back in New Brunswick when I was having a hard time to get a set of stairs that didn't have at least one or two rocky treads. I have seen a set I built over fifteen years ago and they are still tight as a fiddle string!

This is a hardwood dowel that is inserted into the tread with a high tolerance wood bond that will ensure no creeks and squeaks when your'e sneakin downstairs for that last piece of cake from the fridge! LOL!

The layout is the most important part to ensure that each step has a consistent rise to make the stairs as comfortable as possible.

A short run to a landing later to be decked in with 4x8's for a rich rustic base.
